The 7th fe-safe™ User Group Meeting celebrated Safe Technology’s 15th Anniversary of our foundation in 1997. The development of the fe-safe™ prototype started in 1993, with the first copy being sold to Joy Mining in the UK in 1997. We were pleased to welcome external speakers – Professor Luca Susmel from the University of Sheffield, Jeffrey Jones from Cummins, Inc, Dongyoun Jang from Hyundai Motor Company, and Thomas Damiani from Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corporation, Bettis Laboratory.
This UGM also provided a summary of 15 years of fe-safe™ development, with presentations on new features for fatigue of metals, and recent developments in fatigue of non-metallic materials –composites, elastomers and polymers. We also demonstrated how fe-safe™, and fatigue analysis in general, is starting to address ever more complex problems in fatigue of metals. One of the trends in engineering simulation is to provide software that can be used by specialist analysts and by designers with less specialist knowledge of fatigue. In this UGM we showed some of the developments we are making in this area, by linking load measurement, finite element analysis and fatigue analysis into a single seamless process.
We were also delighted to welcome our long standing partner, DS SIMULIA, as main sponsor of the event.
