Safe Technology to provide Caterpillar with standard durability analysis package

Caterpillar Inc., a Fortune 100 company and the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, and industrial gas turbines, has selected Safe Technology’s fe-safe™ as their company standard durability analysis package. fe-safe™ will replace Caterpillar’s in-house code over the next 12 months and be implemented into the design process in over 10 business units world-wide.

fe-safe™ has unique advanced technical capabilities such as high temperature fatigue analysis, grey iron fatigue analysis, statistical analysis and the ability to simulate complex loading conditions. Also leading-edge multiaxial fatigue analysis capabilities in fe-safe™ ensure the highest levels of prediction accuracy whilst still maintaining ease of use.

fe-safe™ is an advanced durability analysis software suite for Finite Element models. It is developed and supported by Safe Technology Ltd, consistent leaders in durability analysis software and solutions. John Draper, Safe Technology’s Managing Director, explained that ‘this contract marks another step in confirming world-wide recognition of Safe Technology as a leading provider of durability software’. Caterpillar is one of more than 75 users world-wide, including Land Rover, Federal Mogul Powertrain, SKF SpA, Detroit Diesel Corp. and Rolls Royce Combustion Systems.

SKF Industrie SpA, world leaders in the design and manufacture of bearings and associated automotive components, have chosen fe-safe™ as their preferred fatigue analysis package. The Light Vehicles Division will use fe-safe™ to analyse suspension components for their wide range of road and rail vehicles.
